Essential Reading

Postby Evel Knievel » Tue Feb 06, 2007 1:44 pm

With the new season upon us and new associates (plenty we hope) coming along to the March intake, thought I'd share this:

19/02/07 - Note: I have now removed this wish list as Nick's is much better (and is a listmania list, so you don't accidentally buy stuff for other people by mistake!) - Thanks Nick!
However, this does not prevent anyone else from adding their favourite riding related reading material titles (or links) below.

Please feel free to add comments below for any other helpful reading.

It is worth mentioning to any new associates reading this that "How to Be an Advanced Motorcyclist: Pass Your Advanced Motorcycling Test" is included in your Skills For Life fee and will be handed out to you on the first classroom session at BAWA.

also consider...

Keith Code, 'Twist of the Wrist' 1 and 2 - VERY good on psychology of riding under pressure. [also the concept of a $10-dollar attention budget that you may have heard me use]
(and for really geeky tech-types there's also 'The Soft Science of Road Racing Motor Cycles" - looks way heavy for me)

I have also seen good reports of David Hough (Proficient Motorcycling / More Proficient Motorcycling / Street Strategies) but haven't got around to reading the one I have next door...

if its in print Dave Jones also does 'the assessment of advanced motorcycling' as a companion to ntbb .

read and enjoy :)

A reply in here, will bring this to the top of the list. Quite useful in connection with a recent discussion.

I've just started reading "My Little Green Book of Advanced Motorcycling" by Eddy Lambah-Stoate (Chairman of CVAM).

This book isn’t a training manual as such, it's more of a light hearted look at the whole advanced training philosophy, interspersed with humorous anecdotes and road trips which help to illustrate the point.

Only a few chapters in, but a good read so far!

OK, Listmania list updated due to very favourable run-ins with
-[our very own] How to be a better - so much better than 'how to pass your advanced test' its hard to believe they're from the same stable, and then
-Sport Riding Techniques, Nick Ienatsch - best book on riding I've encountered since Twist of the Wrist. Read it and learn :D
